Tips to Create a Routine Chart for your kids

Routine Chart

Childhood is a phase to develop habits and routines for a lifetime. Whatever a kid is taught during childhood, makes up the entire life and reflects in his/her habits. A healthy daily routine can affect the physical, mental, and social health of an individual. Creating a schedule also gives a visual reminder to both the parents and the kids as well. There are several well-maintained charts available in the market but that might not be that effective for a family schedule. Therefore, it is preferable to create your schedule and make your kid understand how to act according to it. This helps a kid understand the difference between the good and the bad too. Parents are eager to organize the daily schedule of kids, especially when they get ready for their school, and such routine charts can maintain the balance and give a child some healthy habits that will stay with him/her forever. Parents can even contact the preschool of their kid to get inspired in forming a kid-friendly schedule.

Some basic rules before making a routine chart for you

Here are some mentions to be acknowledged before framing a routine chart for your kids.

Take a note of common tasks for the day

Certain common tasks are left unnoticed but take a lot of time during the day. Recognize what are those tasks and create a space for each one of them in your routine chart. Try to create an order of activities that suits everyone in the family. You can note down the tasks a day before creating the chart so that nothing is skipped and even a minute is not wasted. There are minor activities like getting dressed or having a morning tea session that can take a lot of time but are not there in your schedule. The routine chart will allow you to calculate the time and have a morning that is hustle-free. Your kid will learn to organize his/her work and be away from stress altogether. Preschools teach toddlers about time management and the common daily tasks, you can ask your kid about what he/she has learned and what they want in their schedule. It can help you create a fluent and easy-going chart for the kid.

Analyze what you want

It is important to know what you want in your day other than just following a common schedule. If you will include only the necessities then it might turn boring for your kid to execute the same thing every day. It is crucial to make some changes according to the days and include some activities that are on your wishlist like having a movie night on weekends or going out for a family picnic. You should know that the schedule should not be restricting your child in any way and rather it should be allowing him/her to be organized and giving them space to enjoy much-deserved childhood. Kids’ schools organize their activities in a manner that no child feels that they are left behind and they get what they want along with their learning.

Display to everyone and make kids memorize it

Visuals are always effective and when someone looks at something frequently then it gets stuck in their mind. Try to place the chart at a place that is visible to the entire family often, like on a fridge or a wall that is just in front of a door. Believe it or not, it will create a greater impact and the more a kid will see it, the more he/she will try to follow. Also, it takes time to grasp the changes, so it isn’t possible that the kid learns the chart overnight, you need to make it a habit for the kid to read the chart again and again and memorize it if possible. Kids learn such habits in the preschools and that is the reason why such schools are known for their discipline and implementations for the kids.
